Inbox message: Anonymous Hi I just want some advice or maybe legal advice on a matter which has been bugging since the incident happend! Maybe someone out there might be a solicitor or can tag in one or perhaps been through a similar experience well here goes! Ill try to make this message as brief and short as possible!! I work nights do security, a month ago I went to start my night shift which started at approximately 8pm and finished 730am, I finished my shift and walked towards my car which was parked on a street outside my work building, I noticed the whole roof was seriously damaged and dented inwards obviously I panicked, I reported this incident to the police and they proceeded with the investigation, the cctv footage was checked and they identified a student girl jumping on my vehicle who was in possibly a drunk state (thats what the officer told me)! The officer said he had met the girl and told me she cant afford the costs because shes a student and can possibly do a community resolution where she pays me installments! The officer later said that would take a long while till she pays me and he will not leave the case open and has to close the case and charge her.,( he had words with the girl and charged her with a caution). I was obviously pissed off and asked what next and who will pay for my damages to which he replied go through insurance I said cant do that as Ill have to pay a large sum of excess and lose my no-claims bonus aswel as have a higher nextyr premium!! Throughout all this he tried to persuade me to go through insurance I felt as if he was siding with the girl, I said you cant do that because end of the day she caused my vehicle damage and shes responsible and needs to pay up!! He then said thats the law, shes a student and its her first time offence so she just gets a caution!!! I am extremely upset and need advice. I went to the dealers who have quoted me over 3600 for repairs! I dont want to take this to my insurance provider as its not my fault and Ill be getting charged for nothing and on top of that will lose my bonus and pay a huge excess with a higher premium! Question is what can I do about this? I feel the police have not dealt with my case/complaint properly! Ive lost sleep over this and Im really stressed out!
