Inciweb: Air Quality Summary August 20, 2013 (Big Windy Complex Wildfire): Monday’s air quality levels at the SW Oregon monitoring locations averaged Good to Moderate over the 24-hr period. The upper Rogue Valley above Shady Cove and the northeast areas of Jackson County saw smoky conditions generated by the Whiskey Fire in the early morning hours but as temperatures warmed, very nice clearing occurred. Smoke from the Douglas Complex and Big Windy Complex affected much of western Josephine County. East to northeast winds helped to keep smoke out of most of the more populated areas. Air Quality Forecast: Smoke conditions today, Tuesday, are expected to be very similar to Monday. Burnout operations on the Big Windy Complex and Whiskey Complex are scheduled to continue as firefighters work on securing fire lines. At the Douglas Complex, the natural “unassisted” burning in the interior will continue with the windy and dry conditions.
