Inciweb: Mountain Fire Now 98% Contained (Mountain Wildfire): Hard working fire crews continue to improve fireline and mop up hot spots within the interior of the burn. Six crews have overnighted for several days in these remote areas in order to advance the work. Extreme terrain at the northwest corner of the fire perimeter has slowed fireline construction, but the fire is now 98% contained with full containment expected Tuesday, July 30th. “Our firefighters are working under difficult conditions, but we are confident in the progress they are making in completing the fireline,” said Incident Commander Chris Fogle. He added, “We also appreciate the support of all the local communities.” Residents and visitors may still see smoke towards the north end of the fire, due to the heavy fuels within the perimeter of the fire. A series of immediate post-fire actions to repair damages and minimize impacts resulting from fire suppression activities is nearly complete.
