Incline Dumbbell Flyes Excellent movement for upper pectoral development. Here are some tips to optimize your results: Since a dumbbell only exerts downward force, coming inside the shoulders reduces outward pull/tension & lessens pec recruitment..UNLESS you have a competent spotter who can apply MANUAL OUTWARD FORCE/TENSION at the top of the range (shown in video). Big thanks to @mountaindog1 for turning me on to this technique a while back. ➡️Execution tips: Start the movement by engaging/contracting the pecs first at the bottom; arm motion should be a by-product of the pec contraction. Think about bringing elbows across body & together; straighten the arms (& even lock out) when coming to the mid/upper range of movement to force pecs to work harder (bend elbows in stretched position though). As always, keep shoulders retracted & depressed (back&down) throughout, and lock the abs down & keep them contracted the whole time. At the bottom of the range in the stretched position, fully retract & even contract muscles of the back to ensure full elongation of pec fibers..then engage the pecs & contract through again initiating each rep.
