Squatting lower than quadriceps parallel to the floor causes too much of a strain on ACL and MCL behind the and next to the patella bone. And you wander why your knees hurt. There are plenty of other exercises you can do to isolate the glutes. #2.Squatting in flat footed shoes or without shoes. Plain and simple, youre going to injure your feet. Its just a matter of time based on common sense physics. Youll see many pros like Arnold doing so only for him to say that back in his day when lifting was still in experimental days, flat shoes were more common because they too didnt know any better. So please people, stop hurting yourselves because the new gym trends are here. Dont follow them. Follow what is right.
