Increase in criminal cases filed by AG’s Office noted The Palau Supreme Court has noted an increase in the criminal cases field by the Office of the Attorney General for the months of July and August of this year. In a statement, the Palau Supreme Court stated that for the months of July and August there has been a total of 52 cases that were filed, four of them qualify for a jury trial. The breakdown of the number of cases are as follows: July has 13 and August has 39 cases filed. The number of criminal cases filed during this two-month period constitutes a record high for the Supreme Court. The four July cases that qualify for a jury trial concern murder and attempted murder charges. Most of the remaining felony cases for both months are for charges of Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Aggravated Assault, and Burglary.
