Incredible waste of money taking place in downtown Detroit. Has caused a traffic bottleneck on Woodward like you would not believe. The People Mover provides little convenience while you are downtown. Bringing people into downtown from 3.3 miles away is commical at best. I understand they want to build it in sections, but the cost is somewhat outrageous. Wouldnt dedicated buses have accomplished the same thing? Why is a train better? Rich people having fun with their new toy, Detroit never will change until an honest to God planning commission becomes part of the City Government and they direct these projects and so forth. I doubt west siders will ever benefit from this train. There are existing rail lines from the western edge of wayne county that could shuttle people to downtown, right into the decrepid train station. Then a line from the train station to the civic center would get people downtown. And it certainly wouldnt cost $250 Million to do it. As a Livonia resident, I would love to board a commuter train using the rails between Schoolcraft and Plymouth roads. Im sure a lot of people would, especially for games.
