Incs 149 and 293 of 23 August 2013 Police are appealing for witnesses to two burglaries in Horncastle. Incident 149 relates to a burglary that occurred at a property in Elmhirst Avenue between 9.30am and 11am this morning (Friday). The offender gained entry by forcing the lock on a conservatory door and then made an untidy search of drawers and cupboards. Two watches were stolen during the burglary. Incident 293 was reported at 3.13pm from another property in the same street and appears to be a sneak-in burglary. The offender accessed the house, possible while the occupant was hanging out washing, and stole a leopard-print handbag containing a purse with cash. The landlord of a third property in Elmhirst Avenue reported that a garage to the address may have been entered but nothing appears to have been stolen. Residents are being asked to be vigilant to any suspicious activity, vehicles or persons and to take extra care with home security. Anyone with information should contact Lincolnshire Police by dialling 101 and quoting the incident number. Report crimes anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
