Indeed even the name of the Messiah Yeshua means Yahweh saves rescues or delivers. After all what do we need rescue or delivery from more, than that which can separate us from God forever, which is our own sin? When we consider Old Testament prophecies of the Messiah and His crucifixion, and even the foreshadowing or type of the event in the heart rending story of Abrahams near sacrifice of his son Isaac, it isnt a stretch to suggest that the main subject of the entirety of the scriptures from beginning to end, is the crucifixion, death and resurrection of the Messiah. Early in the revealing of Yahweh to mankind, we read in the old covenant book of Leviticus, Leviticus 17:11 For the life of the flesh [is] in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it [is] the blood [that] maketh an atonement for the soul. The same is true under this new covenant, through the shed blood of the the Messiah, the Lamb of God. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Lets investigate one of Jesus own prophecies, of His crucifixion. Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These [are] the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and [in] the prophets, and [in] the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these things. What was written in the psalms of the Old Testament, from so many hundreds of years before, that Jesus referred to? Psalms 22:16 For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. 17 I may tell all my bones: they look [and] stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. That Old Testament prophecy was written before crucifixion was ever even invented, and is fulfilled by the crucifixion of the Messiah, as confirmed by the New Testament witnesses. Matthew 27:35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. Mark 15:24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. John 19:23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also [his] coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. In His prophecy Jesus also referred to what was written in the prophets. One example is this Old Testament prophecy of Zechariah regarding that day, of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, that was written over 500 years before Jesus crucifixion... Zechariah 12:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn. The Second Coming is not yet fulfilled, nor Gods destruction of those nations that come against Jerusalem, but the person whom was pierced is Jesus Christ, as confirmed through His New Testament witness and prophet, John... John 19:37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. The WHOLE SUBJECT of the Gospel is the sacrifice of the Lamb of God... Romans 3:25 Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Heres more prophecy by Jesus, of His own crucifixion. Matthew 16:21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. Matthew 20:17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify [him]: and the third day he shall rise again. Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whales belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. In a conversation with the Pharisees.... John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said. My friend, do you believe the word which Jesus had said? Mark 14:58 We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. Jesus followers - His sheep - ARE His temple. We ARE the body of Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which [temple] ye are. 1Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? The indwelling of the Holy Spirit comforting and guiding His flock. John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: Anyone who rejects the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, rejects the Gospel, and thus rejects Jesus Christ Himself. Matthew 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Heres an Old Testament prophecy by Isaiah, from about 700 years before Jesus crucifixion. Isaiah 53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put [him] to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see [his] seed, he shall prolong [his] days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, [and] shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Fulfilled and confirmed in the New Testament 1Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: 23 Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed [himself] to him that judgeth righteously: 24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 25 For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls. Everyone who rejects the sacrifice of Jesus Christ - the price He took upon Himself to pay to save us from sin - rejects Jesus Christ. John 10:17 Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. 18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. Surah 4:157 That they said , We killed Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah;- but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety they killed him not:- The first Gnostic heretic was named Simon Magnus aka Simon the Sorcerer or Simon the Magician, from Sumaria who referred to himself as the great power of God. As the first heretic of the Christian era, he was later referred to as the Father of Heresies. His Gnostic doctrine eventually bore his name Simonianism. Not surprisingly in one of his heresies he declared that it only appeared that Jesus was crucified. Later on, Simons heresy was adopted and further developed by Gnostic cults, such as the Ebionites. It isnt like we werent warned about Simon the Magician. 2Peter 2:1 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. Every informed person who is mentally competent enough to understand, and yet rejects the blood of the Lord that bought them, will suffer the consequences.
