Indeed, something is quite silly here. A critical reading of my comment clearly indicates not less spending, but more spending by DARPA. The big deficit boom of WWII when everyone was either working in the war plants or packing a rifle is worthy of consideration. This time, however, we will be ginning up the economy with off-budget funny money.in DARPAs secret project - Black Hole - a plan that requires an entire economic mobilization of our country for a secret preemptive strike against Canada. Any minimum wage worker in America who joins the mobilization will see his or her hourly compensation increased to 15 dollars an hour, thanks to funny money. Many will be trained as medics for Americas new robotic fighting force or be trained as scouts who will secretly spy on Canada disguised as tourists. The mobilization will be so secret that neither Canada nor America will know whats coming. Yes, this plan may be so brilliant that some misguided souls deem it silly, but then again is it any sillier than a federal reserve that prints money out of thin air and then gives it nearly interest free to banks? Any sillier than corporate welfare for oil companies? Or huge bailouts thrown at banks which have created derivatives based on the CEOs astrological sign? Our sick economy, I believe, can be directly attributed to a failure of imagination and Im afraid I need to be critical here: the poor and degraded reading skills of the general public. (DARPA, I am available if you need another highly qualified civilian consultant.)
