Indeed the gospel of Jesus Christ is the gospel of offence! “As it is written, behold i am laying in Zion a stone that will make man stumble, a rock that will make them fall. But he who believes in him, (who adheres to, trust in, and relies on him) shall not be put to shame nor be disappointed in his expectations.” Romans 9v33, also Isaiah 8v14, and 1 Peter 2v6-8 (Amp V) Whether we like it or not, believe or not believe it. Jesus came into this world for one purpose that is to redeem the lost, if something is lost; it means it was once found before! HOW WAS HE GOING TO DO THAT? God made him a stumbling block, a rock of offence, so that those who are not God’s children will despise Christ form, and the way of the cross, hate him and go to their own way of destruction! On the other, his sheep will hear his voice and will rejoice in him, and are happy to walk in his ways; they rejoice in their suffering because it brings them into obedience, and know they share the same identity as Christ. They are not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus; they will gladly bare his yoke and share his love everywhere, they are not afraid when terror comes neither by night, nor the arrow by day. To every child of God, i say to you today fear not, fear not when you go through all kinds of divers and temptations, “many are the troubles of the righteous, BUT THE LORD delivers them from them all”. Fear not “as such as violate the covenant, who pervert and seduce with flatteries. But the people who know their God shall prove themselves strong and shall stand firm, and do great exploits for God” In this day, esteem not what the world holds in high regard, your strength and reward is with the lord!
