India Cream Ale - An American Original, Remixed One of the few - TopicsExpress

India Cream Ale - An American Original, Remixed One of the few beer styles indigenous to the United States, American Cream Ale owes its creation to the German lager invasion of the US. In the 1880s, the first of that brand new style of beer hit US shores. Lagers immediate popularity prompted American ale brewers to create a home-grown alternative. Unfortunately, they lacked both the Germans lager yeast and the cold-fermentation facilities necessary to copy the Lager. Undeterred, the brewers crafted a light colored beer that was warm fermented with ale yeast and then cellar aged, yielding many of the qualities of a lager. Clandestines ICA begins with a basic American Cream Ale- and then adds the hops! Using the hop-burst method, large quantities of aromatic American hops are added to this beer, both in the kettle and in the fermenter. The result is a lager-like, highly quaffable, thirst-quenching beer with a huge aromatic punch of citrus-y & floral hops. While Batch #1 used Amarillo, Columbus, Chinook, Citra, and Caliente hops, we plan to make each batch of ICA unique by varying the hop bill. Vital Stats 1.055 OG / 5.5% ABV / 60 IBU
