India benefits as Water issues ignored ( Ref Dawn Dtd. Sun March 9 , 2014 ) : PML-N Government has virtually turned a blind eye to Indias constructions on the western rivers. India has started work 38 projects on the Jhelum , Chenab , & Indus rivers, ignoring Pakistans rights over the river water guaranteed by the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty. Islamabad has chosen for itself the easy way : sending letters & reminders to India seeking information about the status of these projects -- with no reply , in most cases from the Indian Government. Documents seen by Dawn reveal the alarming inefficacy of the PCIW ( Pkistan Commissioner for Indus Water ) office in handling water issues , demonstrating governance issues. The Government has yet to appoint a regular Commissioner to exclusively manage water issues with Indian counterpart . Now , this all shows the seriousness of the Government on Pakistans life & death issues & consistent pleasing policy towards India at the cost of supreme National interests , how sad ?
