‘India hatching conspiracies to weaken liberation movement’ Srinagar, August 19 : In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has said that India is hatching conspiracies to weaken the Kashmiris economically and suppress their ongoing movement for securing their inalienable right to self- determination. Syed Ali Gilani in a media interview in Srinagar said that India and its puppet regime in the territory were leaving no stone unturned to weaken the Kashmiris and the recent move to levy property tax was a part of the conspiracy to suppress the liberation movement. He said, Jammu and Kashmir is a conflict zone and his forum would not allow any new law or rule which is detrimental to people. The veteran leader appealed to the traders and people to raise their voice against the diktat. He said that the forum would monitor the developments closely and if need arose it would formulate a programme to resist this anti- people move. “We will also extend all out support to any programme of the traders against the property tax,” he added. Syed Ali Gilani deplored that the puppet authorities were vandalizing natural resources of the territory for their petty interests. “Thousands of kanals of land across the Jammu and Kashmir is under illegal occupation of Indian forces. Our forests and water bodies have been vandalized in the name of so-called development. Our water resources have been sold and people have been left in lurch,” he added. Meanwhile, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement strongly condemned the police for their fresh arrest drive against youth in Shopian and Baramulla. He said that the police had created an atmosphere of fear and chaos in every nook and corner of the territory. Denouncing the police action against youth, he demanded immediate release of all illegally detained Kashmiris including Hurriyet leaders and activists.
