India humiliated yet again as England decimate Dhoni & Co. to win Test series 3-1 Indias shocking batting stats in last four innings: 63/6, 66/6, 44/6, 62/6 Another batting disaster by the Indian batsmen once again illustrated the fact that the top order havent learnt anything from their previous outings on the ongoing tour. The visitors have not crossed the 200-run mark in the previous four innings and surely have made a habit of losing five to six wickets in each session they come out to bat. Indias embarrassing sequence of batting failures continued as they produced yet another spineless display during the third day of fifth and final Test and lost the five match Test series 3-1. But the most shocking part in the previous four innings has been the failure of top order collectively. 1st innings: Within six overs India were in tatters at 8 for 4; three of the top four having collected ducks, including the struggling Virat Kohli who fell second ball to his nemesis James Anderson. Although MS Dhoni and Ajinkya Rahane tried their best to get India back into the match, soon the latter fell after making 24 and was followed by Ravindra Jadeja back to the pavilion leaving India tottering at 63 for 6. India were bowled out for 152 inside two sessions. 2nd innings: India were humiliated as they lost the fourth Test by an innings and 54 runs. The Indian players faced just 89.4 overs in the whole Test - the second lowest faced by them against England behind the 58.1 overs faced in the 1952 Old Trafford Test while posting 58 and 82. It took a little longer for Indias collapse to set in than the first innings - Gautam Gambhir and Cheteshwar Pujara helped India reach 53 for 1 - but their demise to 66 for 6 was in many ways more extraordinary given England were a bowler down - with Stuart Broad out injured with the broken nose. 5th Test: 1st innings: After a humiliating defeat at Old Trafford, Indian batting saw another collapse at The Oval. England pacers toppled the Indian batting with wickets at regular intervals and India were all out for mere 148. Play began after a delay of 30 minutes due to rain, and Gambhir fell for a golden duck to the fourth ball. Broad, passed fit to play with a nose broken in the fourth Test, bowled Cheteshwar Pujara for 4 to leave India on 10 for 2. Jordan then picked up Kohli, Rahane in quick succession. Vijay, who offered light resistance for India with a stubborn 18 from 64 balls, edged Woakes to Root and Suart Binny too joined him soon in the pavilion leaving India struggling at 44 for 6. 2nd innings: England wrapped up the five-match Test series 3-1 with a huge innings and 244-run victory on day three at The Oval. It will be correct to say that Indias batting technique was exposed by the likes of Anderson and Broad again and again and it was no different in the second innings of the fifth Test. Trailing by 338 runs, India kept on losing wickets at regular interval and no batsmen showed any real intent. From Vijay to Gambhir, from Pujara to Kohli were once again left reeling to the pace attack as they were skittled to 62 for 6 before getting bowled out at 94.
