India is today celebrating National Education Day in the reminiscence of her first Education Minister Maulana Azad on his birthday. Apart from other majorly initiatives in the education sector when India was warped by low literacy, there was another very significant thing in making to celebrate Indias rich social culture under the inspiration of Jawahar Lal Nehru. In the backdrop, Sahitya Akadami, Sangeet Natak Akadami and Lalit Kala Akadami were established as autonomous bodies in 1954. Sticking to the terms of references of the former, I would like to evaluate that English language as one of the 24 languages of which the literature is to be advanced, should be repealed. The raison d etre lies in the fact that there is an incredibly low quality literature available in Indic languages as against that in English in both in the West and India, keeping in mind the proportion of people comfortable in respective languages. This fact is very evident from the filthy and low informed opinion coloumns of Hindi newspapers and English ones and the kind of euphoria generating in middle class to become anglicised(it is not to undermine the significance of English but to provide a way to exploit more productive energy by informing people effectively in their own language).
