India on 1 July 2013 successfully launched its first dedicated navigation satellite, IRNSS-1A using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C22. IRNSS (Indian Regional Navigational Satellite System)-1A was launched from Satish Dhawan Space Research Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. After a flight of 20 minutes 17 seconds, the IRNSS-1A Satellite, weighing 1425 kg, was injected to the intended elliptical orbit of 282.46 km X 20,625.37 km at 00:01 hours. This was the first launch operation conducted by ISRO in night.
