India shouldn’t teach us lessons of democracy: HCJK Srinagar, Dec 1, CNS: Terming the statement of BJP’s Avinash Rai Khanna in which he had invited the pro-freedom leadership to understand the Indian democracy as a “joke”, Hurriyat Conference Jammu Kashmir spokesperson Monday said that giving the examples of those who have already sold their conscience and are tired doesn’t make any sense. “There can’t be any alliance or comparison between those who are loyal to freedom movement and those who turned their backs to the movement. The Indian politicians need not to give sermons on democracy to Kashmiris as we are very well aware about the so-called democratic nature of India,” the spokesperson in a statement issued to press said. He said: “We protested over the same when Muhammad Afzal Guru was sent to gallows without informing his family and fulfilling other legal formalitites. We saw their democracy in Godhra, Muzaffarnagar, Assam when Muslims were butchered. If we are invited to understand the democracy of India, let them make it clear why the blood was spilled in the massacres that were carried out in Kashmir, why are there black laws which have made the life of the people of Kashmir hell.” He said the question is not of democracy but the future of 15 million people of Jammu and Kashmir for which India, Pakistan and the people of Kashmir are stakeholders and which awaits the solution. Meanwhile, the spokesperson while commenting on the ongoing election drama in Valley said it is a big joke that people voted for democracy here. “It was due to the situation created by the devastating floods and the failure of state administration in rehabilitating the flood affected and their emotions are still attached to the freedom movement for which they will never compromise.” He said that by arresting thousands of political opponents, these elections are nothing but a drama. “But we will continue our election boycott campaign despite all such hurdles and appeal people to stay away from the sham election process and observe complete election boycott on December 2,” the spokesperson added.
