Indian Govt Largest consumer of petrol, They were the ones who suggested stipulating petrol consumption of people by keeping the pumps open only for 12 hours. It is clear that the government does not want to practice austerity. When Moily was criticised for his new ground-breaking idea, he welcomed suggestions from the opposition. How about cleaning up their act? Govt doesn’t even keep a check on how much fuel it spends in a year! Stunning estimates tell us story - UPA may be spending over 3000 Crore Rupees annually for fuel. Is the government taking fuel for granted when it is suggesting a petrol curfew? On an average, the government consumes 46,200 litres of petrol every month – maybe it is. Don’t even protest! Your voice may get trampled by the sound of the fuel-guzzling convoy that’s passing by. Every minister has a limit for fuel consumption but to most ministers sky is limit when it comes to petrol consumption. When the country is staring at inflation its government is busy burning adding fuel to the problem by not keeping a track on fuel consumption. The government should lead by example by decreasing the fuel consumption. By adding up to CAD with such consumption of oil it looks like the government chopping off the branch it is sitting on. But you don’t have to worry - the government will soon solve this petrol consumption problem by increasing the price so high that demand for it would automatically go low.
