Indian Grey Hornbill ............. on a dull cloudy morning at Anantagiri forest side , Telangana , 31-08-2014 A trip to the Anantagiri hill side was long due and eventually managed to reach the place at 8 a.m. with Subrat !! All credit to Anshumaan for the persuasion and encouragement to make the trip despite the gloomy drizzle in the morning which was alluring us back to sleep ... :-). A good hours drive ( of approx.80 km via Vikarabad ) brought us to the Anantagiri Padnabha Swamy temple area where we met the group later. We stopped right in the middle of no where in particular after seeing White-bellied Drongo chasing an Asian Paradise Flycatcher followed with a quick reversal of roles.We entered a motorable trail off the main road into the woods ...... and the highlights are Jerdons Leafbird,Small Minivet,White-Browed Bulbul,Pale billed Flowerpecker,Common Woodshrike,Common Iora ( plenty of them very vocal ),Yellow-billed Babbler,Grey Hornbills,Stork-billed Kingfisher,Yellow-wattled Lapwing,White-browed Fantail,Tickells Blue Flycatcher. Quite a promising place with diverse habitat within a few km ... to explore in the winter !!
