#Indians to be issued #Frenchvisas within 48 hours from Jan 1, 2015 : The French Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Development, H.E. Laurent Fabius announced that Indians will be issued Visas within 48 hours from January 1, 2015. The Minister made this announcement yesterday evening during his hour-long meeting in Mumbai with a delegation of travel industry professionals comprising top executives of ten major tour operators and MICE specialist companies to promote France as a preferred tourist destination in India. An announcement of the launch of ‘Chalo Paris’ application (app) for the Indian market in September 2014 was also made during the meeting. The official and free app for smart phones and tablets is aimed at enhancing the experience of travellers. H.E. Laurent Fabius also conferred the insignia of Chevalier légion dhonneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour), the top French civilian award, to Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan for his outstanding contribution to cultural diversity across the world, at a grand investiture ceremony which was held at the Taj Mahal Palace after the interaction with the travel trade. The Minister, who was on an official visit to India with a high-level delegation, met Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and other government officials in New Delhi.
