‘Indo-Pak bilateral talks futile’ • Tripartite talks way to resolve Kashmir • Kashmir resolution key to Indo-Pak friendship Hurriyat Conference (M) Saturday observed the conglomerate’s 21st Foundation Day and termed any bilateral dialogue between New Delhi and Islamabad as futile. During a joint session of its executive council, general council and working committee held at party’s headquarters at Rajbagh, Hurriyat (M) adopted an eight-point resolution calling upon New Delhi and Islamabad to resolve Kashmir issue by holding tripartite talks. The amalgam resolved that Kashmir resolution was a key to India-Pakistan friendship and a lasting peace in the subcontinent and called for tripartite talks on the issue with Kashmiri leadership being the principal party. Referring to March 8, 1993, the conglomerate members said on this day 21 years back, the representative assembly of various religious, social and political organizations of Kashmir at Mirwaiz Manzil in Srinagar under the chairmanship of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had decided to have a common political platform – All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC). They said that the objective of the amalgam was to strive peacefully to secure for the people of the Jammu and Kashmir the exercise of the “right of self-determination” and make endeavors for an “alternative negotiated settlement” of Kashmir with all the three parties to the dispute people of the Jammu and Kashmir, India and Pakistan. During the session, the heads of the constituents’ of the conglomerate expressed their views and suggestions to make Hurriyat (M) more vibrant and to put in more effective and result-oriented efforts for the resolution of Kashmir issue. They said right from the day of its foundation, Hurriyat Conference had been engaged at political and diplomatic level, both locally as well as internationally to try to find a peaceful, just and permanent solution of the long-pending Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the people of Kashmir. The leaders said the amalgam was making every possible effort in this direction. On this occasion, the conglomerate adopted a resolution stated that Hurriyat Conference (M) was a symbol of unity and political solidarity of freedom-loving people of Jammu and Kashmir, which in accordance with its constitutional stand was pursuing the cause of Kashmiri people at all levels including international level, with dedication and discipline and despite difficulties, continues its efforts to find a just, honorable and a permanent solution of Kashmir issue. Hurriyat (M) reiterated that this representative alliance would continue its efforts to achieve the purpose for which it had been formed. The amalgam resolved that abiding by the principles laid down in its constitution, it would continue its just struggle with discipline and determination. The conglomerate resolved that it had always stood for the unity of thought and action and as such kept and continued to keep its doors open for any sincere person or group belonging to the “resistance movement”. Hurriyat (M) paid tributes to all those “who laid their lives for the Kashmir cause” including Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, Sheikh Hameed, Maqbool Bhat, Afzal Guru, Muhammad Rafiq Shaheen and other “martyrs of the movement”. The amalgam pledged that being the “custodian of the blood of martyrs”, it would continue its struggle to carry forward the “mission of martyrs” to its logical end. It resolved that despite difficulties, Hurriyat (M) would continue its efforts at political level, both local and international, to find a just and lasting solution to Kashmir issue. The conglomerate members said Hurriyat (M) considers the steadfastness and commitment toward the movement unavoidable for the success in the purpose and while adhering to its constitution stand firmly, it would continue the struggle with full determination. They said they also expect from “Kashmiri nation” that keeping in view the priceless sacrifices offered for the movement, people as always would continue their commitment and support toward “Kashmir cause”. The amalgam members said Hurriyat (M) had always stood for better relations between New Delhi and Islamabad and felt that a just solution of Kashmir issue was not only in the best interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir but also entire population of the subcontinent. They said supporting a meaningful dialogue among all the three parties, Hurriyat (M) however considers that without the actual participation of Kashmiris and without respecting the wishes and sacrifices offered by them, no dialogue process was going to bear fruit. The joint session was presided over by Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and all the heads of the constituents of the amalgam including Abdul Gani Butt, Moulvi Abass Ansari, Bilal Gani Lone, Agha Syed Mujtaba Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi, Muhammad Musadiq Adil, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, conglomerate’s political advisor Abdul Majid Banday, media advisor Shahid-ul-Islam, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Syed Saleem Geelani, Abdul Manan Bukhari, Hilal Ahmad War, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, Chowdary Shaheen Iqbal, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Abdul Qayoom, Ghulam Muhammad Sankar, Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo, Abdul Rasheed Antu, Ghulam Nabi Zaki, Ghulam Nabi Najar and Jaffar Kashmiri participated in the meeting.
