Indonessia bad moves with people of Papua. Indonessia is a Muslim country that is often very open to Black people. Malcolm X made his famous speech at the Bandung Conference there. The issue is Salafist Islam and its version of white supremacy in which the Muslims feel superior to non-Muslim neighbors which is contrary to traditional Islam. On Christmas the Indonesian President went to Papua to renew political ties many people wrote letters saying he should not do so citing religion because it was on Christmas. Ok, Maybe as a Muslim he picked a bad day to visit but he should have visited and he did. Europe has dumped so much propaganda on the Muslim world it is now common to see racism within Islam yet during Malcolms era in this same place it was not. On the flip side the racist in Indonesian and Malay culture are minimal. The solution is engagement from the Muslim world on this issue and re-education just as they we re-educated to this bullshit they can be taught its not cool. Racism in Islam is kabair or a major sin.
