Industrial music Industrial music is intrinsically transgressive and provocative. It is the sweet child of Rock and Electronica. It was the clamor that change required and thus the harshest and the noisiest blend of the two most aggressive music styles was created. The writers claimed to encompass everything that was synonym to controversy be it the serial killers, occults or fascism. Writers and Philosophers like William Burroughs and Nietzsche were preached by the followers of this genre. Frank Zappa, John Cage and Jimi Hendrix and deemed to be the most influential figures for Industrial music. The contemporary artists which draw from industrial music are Nine Inch Nails and Ministry. Although, it was the German Band Kraftwerk (formed by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider), that really popularized Industrial. They incorporated it in their Electronica styled music. Industrial was originally created using audio samples from mechanical and electronic machinery; hence the term industrial was coined.
