Infiltration bid foiled in Lasdat sector; 1 killed Srinagar, Sep 23: (GNS) An unidentified militant was killed on Monday after army claimed to have foiled a fresh infiltration bid at Lasdat sector in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. A defense official in a statement issued to GNS said that army foiled an infiltration bid and killed one militant while other one managed to flee back on the Line of control (LoC) in Lasdat Sector area of Halmatpora in Kupwara on Monday. “Based on inputs regarding movement of militants in the area , troops of 5 ASSAM deployed in the sector detected movement of two militants on this side of the Line of Control in the wee hours today,” the official said, adding the troops cordoned off the area. The two militants were observed by own troops, who on being detected opened fire on troops, the official said. “The retaliatory fire by the troops resulted in the death of one militant and another one managed to move back,” he said, adding the dead body of the killed militant has been recovered while the searches in the area is still going on.
