Influential Nkana striker Ronald Kampamba has been given the all clear for this weekend’s 2014 Caf Champions League clash against KCCA of Uganda in Kitwe. The 2013 Zambia golden boot winner has been side-lined for a week due to a shoulder injury he sustained in Nkana’s Champions League preliminary round home leg game against Mbabane Swallows on February 15. Kampamba returned to training this week without any incident after missing Nkana’s 3-1 win over Red Arrows last Saturday in the 2014 Charity Shield final at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe. “Kampamba is back. I have no problem with him,” Nkana coach Masauso Mwale said. Kampamba finished the 2013 season with 18 goals to lead Nkana to their first Faz Super League title since 2001. He has already scored two goals for Nkana in 2014 in their 5-2 win over Swallows to see them overturn a 2-0 away loss to the Swaziland champions a week earlier to advance to the first round 5-4 on aggregate. However, Mwale is sweating on the fitness of another key player. Defender Christopher Munthali is nursing a hamstring injury he sustained in the Charity Shield final. “He has an injury and he is taking it easy. We believe it is a hamstring injury but he tried very hard to train but couldn’t finish,” Mwale said. Mwale is due to make decision on the player later Thursday.
