Info for 3rd December 2014 S2 CHRISTMAS COOKERY - ALL S2 PUPILS - Can you all please look out an old CD/Unwanted disc to bring into Home Economics. These must be given to your Practical HE teacher with your name on by Monday 8th December. CAPTURING THE COMMONWEALTH EXHIBITION : ‘Pupils are invited to view the Capturing the Commonwealth photography exhibition created by young people from across the Scottish Borders, including pupils from Galashiels Academy. The exhibition will be in the school Library until the end of the school day on Friday 5th December. The images in the exhibition were taken in the Scottish Borders and at Edinburgh Festival and capture what ‘Democracy Is’.’ S1/2 - INTER-HOUSE BASKETBALL AND NETBALL : The second leg of the Keir Rafferty House Cup will take place Friday the 12th December after school beginning at 1:45pm and ending at 3:00pm. It is a basketball and netball tournament for S1 and S2. Sign up will take place at Thursday break time at the canteen and Friday breaktime at the main foyer. This is a great opportunity for you to represent your House and build on the points tally you have already earned. Get involved! FASHION SHOW - Thank you to all pupils, staff, Janitors, office staff, parents, technicians and local businesses that helped with the Fashionations 2 show last Tuesday. The night was a great success and raised £680 and the raffle raised £250 which will go to charity. We look forward to the next show in 2016! LEAPS ANNUAL CONFERENCE FOR S6 STUDENTS will take place on the morning of Friday 12 December 2014 at Edinburgh Napier Universitys Craiglockhart Campus. Thank you. BORDERS COLLEGE APPLICATIONS: Students can apply now to Borders College using the on-line system. The deadline for applications (for a guaranteed Interview) is 15th March 2015, but we strongly advise students to send their application in before this deadline. Prospectuses are available from Mrs Catto or from the Library. Each pplication will require a Personal Statement of 250 - 300 words, drafts to Mrs Catto. SENIOR DANCE PHOTOGRAPHS: If you wish a group or individual photograph to be taken at the Senior Dance, please come and collect an envelope from Reception. Complete the envelope with all the names of the group/individual and enclose £5 per person. All envelopes must be returned to reception by Wednesday 17th December. Envelopes are also available for Whole S6 Group and this photograph is priced at £10 per copy, please return to Reception also.
