Info regarding incoming #unc18 First-Year Student course registration: If you have older siblings and friends that registered for classes at orientation, the process is a little different now. You will: (1) complete on online Academic Advising module on Sakai before Orientation (2) meet with an academic advisor on day two of orientation to discuss fall course selection (3) register for classes from home/anywhere with internet during your designated registration appointment period. Your registration period depends on your orientation session date, so it is a 2.5-day period during the week following your orientation session. When you made your orientation reservation online, there was a chart that indicated which registration times corresponded with with orientation dates. Its also listed on our website, here: https://nscpp.unc.edu/.../first-year-orientation-program... Do know that there is no advantage or disadvantage to attending an earlier or later session in terms of your likelihood of getting into courses. The registrar holds seats in popular first-year classes and releases a number of those seats PER registration period, so the same number of seats are released every time, meaning it doesnt matter if you come on June 2 or July 29, youll have the same chance of getting into classes. The registration system then opens up again for ALL students in August and at that time you can add/drop classes and adjust your schedule. Contact our office and post questions on our Facebook page with any questions!
