Information for this weekend and beyond from the NTNA Junior Games Convenor 17th March 2014 Hi all Players, Officials, Parents and Supporters We have evaluated Week 1 of the “Sports Arena Preseason Cup” and wish to convey the following things to ALL members and supporters. 1- RESPECT!! This is number 1 for a reason as it is of utmost importance that everyone understands where we stand on this. We had so much positive feedback from Saturday but we did have some instances that cast a shadow on this positive including an Incident report lodgement for rough conduct, a swear word from an 11 year old that I wouldn’t expect to hear from anyone and physical aggression on the court to which I was witness to. Please understand that none of this will be tolerated this year. Not only do umpires have full right to remove a player from the court for any violations of the code of conduct (which all players and parents sign when registering) but we will have no hesitation in removing a parent or supporter from the complex for the same violations. It is very important that everyone understands that at the end of the day we are all here because we love this sport and: 1– THESE ARE KIDS 2– THIS IS A GAME 3– THE COACHES VOLUNTEER 4– THE UMPIRES ARE HUMAN 5– THIS IS NOT…..THE AUSTRALIAN NETBALL LEAGUE! Please show respect for other players, parents, officials and yourself when at Hoblers Bridge Netball Centre and we hope in your daily life as well. 2- ST JOHNS AMBULANCE The St Johns ambulance have been provided by the NTNA for the Preseason Cup ONLY. They are there in the case of any injury and are NOT permitted to do any strapping or administer pain relief. If after evaluating any incident they feel that the patient requires more medical assistance than they can provide they have been instructed to call an ambulance with the permission of the injured player’s caregiver. Should you require medical help please find them in the first aid room or see a match referee in the lovely fluoro yellow vests so we can locate them for you. 3- CANTEEN We think the lovely ladies and man in the canteen did an absolutely fabulous job considering how very very busy it was. While we anticipated it would be busy I don’t think anyone could have possibly predicted the popularity of our little shop but we want you all to know that we have evaluated all aspects and will have more ovens this week to keep up with the demand of pastries, more fridges to keep our drinks colder and more staff to help serve you quicker and we will double our Salad Roll and Chicken Wrap supply so no one misses out. Please be patient with our “volunteers” when getting served, we are doing our very best. Please note that the canteen will be closed this week from 12.30-1pm while the Opening Ceremony is conducted. Thankyou so much for your support. Also there is a Coffee Van located beside the tower at the end of CC1 please support him as he supports us. 4- OPENING CEREMONY All players will be asked to congregate on Court 2 from 12.15 and by no later than 12.25pm in full club colours (no street wear is to be worn) You will be led out in clubs at 12.30 at the commencement of proceedings. All parents and supporters are asked to sit on the grandstands located on CC1 and CC2 ready for a 12.30 start. Our Chairperson Mr Andrew Stuart will compere proceedings in front of Life Members, Special Guests and Sponsors so please sit patiently and quietly. Club banners, balloons and streamers etc are more than welcome. Your attendance is respectfully requested at the ceremony. 5- NETTA CLINIC All registered players 10 and under are invited to attend our Netta Clinic on court 5 from 11am – 12pm. Our affiliated state league clubs will be running this clinic and all participants are asked to meet on court 5 by no later than 10.55am. Sports wear inc sneakers are to be worn and please bring a drink. While there is no charge for this clinic there is a gate entry fee of $2 per person/$5 per family. 6- GRAND FINALS Our Grand finalists will be announced at 1.55pm. Games will be 17u on cc1, 16u on cc2, 15u on ct2, 14u on ct3, 13u on ct4 and 12u on ct5. These games will not be centrally timed. The 2pm start will be announced by our timekeeper but after that it is the games scorer and timers responsibility to keep time to allow for any injury timeout, games will include 10 minute halves and 2 minute half time break. These games will be independently officiated and umpires will be released at the same time as teams announced. Presentations to the winners in our “SPORTS ARENA Pre-Season Cup” will commence directly after the completion of the final. If you have any questions please see your Clubs Coordinators or you can email myself at [email protected] Kindest Regards Peta Reitsema Junior Games Convenor - Northern Tasmanian Netball Association “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”Henry Ford
