Information like this really makes me mad. I do a lot of fundraising for Komen. I think I may need to change my breast cancer charity of choice! Nancy Brinker, CEO of the Susan G. Komen Foundation, is making over and above other charity heads, even after the breast cancer charity recently cancelled half of their three-day charity walks for 2014. The foundation blamed the economy for the cancellations, reports NBC News. Nancy Brinker makes $684 thousand annually, a 64 percent increase from her salary in 2010. The CEO of the Red Cross, Gail McGovern, makes half a million annually — even though the Red Cross made $3.4 billion in revenue last year, 10 times the $340 million brought in by Susan G. Komen. Ken Berger, the president and CEO of Charity Navigator, a nonprofit that evaluates the financial status of large charities, told NBC, “This pay package is way outside the norm. It’s about a quarter of a million dollars more than what we see for charities of this size.” In August 2012, Brinker announced she would be stepping down as CEO. However, she still holds the position. Komen Foundation spokeswoman Andrea Rader responded, saying, “We said last August that she would step out of the CEO job when a new CEO or senior leader is named. That search is continuing, so she remains in the CEO position, just as we said she would.” Read more: dailycaller/2013/06/10/susan-g-komen-ceo-salary-up-64-as-charity-loses-funds/#ixzz2v8Caspwn
