Infrastructure: Update on Western Ave. Water Main Work: THIS WEEK: *** N. Western Ave. 8” and 24” water mains – W. Diversey Ave. to N. Jones St. (East side). Crew begins water service transfers on Western between Diversey and Schubert. ***W. Diversey Ave. 12” water main – N. Western Ave. to 120’ N. of West Logan Blvd. (North side). Crew finished installing new 12” pipe, valve, precast basin and fire hydrant near Western Ave, clean out catch basins, begin flushing new 12” pipe. ***N. Western Ave. 24” water main – W. Diversey Ave. to North Branch of Chicago River. Crew continued installing 24” pipe North of Wolfram approaching the river from the South, dig test hole on west side of Western to locate existing 24” main for future tie-in. ***W. Nelson St. – N. Western Ave. to N. Oakley Ave. Crew completed installing new 8” pipe and first connection at Oakley, begin flushing new 8” pipe. NEXT WEEK: ***N. Western Ave. 8” and 24” water mains – W. Diversey Ave. to N. Jones St. (East side). Continue water service transfers and connection at Schubert, possible start of restoration per temperature. ***W. Diversey Ave. 12” water main – N. Western Ave. to 120’ N. of West Logan Blvd. (North side). Flush, pressure test, chlorinate and sample new pipe. ***N. Western Ave. 24” water main – W. Diversey Ave. to North Branch of Chicago River. Continue installation of new pipe, prepare to cross Western Ave. to tie-in to existing main on West side of Western. ***W. Nelson St. – N. Western Ave. to N. Oakley Ave. Flush, pressure test, chlorinate and sample new pipe, begin transferring water services to new main.
