Initial observations from NE Regionals (Note: I am a fan of unpopular opinions, so if you dont agree with me Im all for discussing them): -The NE Tier 1 is three teams: Tufts, NYU, QCB. -However, the weaknesses, however limited, of these three teams means that the Tier 2 or 3 of the NE has a shot at upsetting them on any given day. -BU is better than anyone gives them credit for, and could definitely make some serious waves as a pot 2 team at WC VIII. -Ditto to the University of Rochester, except as at best a pot 3 team (yes Im biased, but Im writing that as objectively as possible). -The 12 teams that qualified are the least surprising qualifiers in recent memory. -The NE Finals deserves to be the most watched Quidditch video in history, purely due to the beater play between those two teams when the snitch was on pitch. - Kyle Jeon should be the next Global Games Team USA coach. The improvement of NYU over the past two months and the adjustments he made to get his team to the finals (and to remain in snitch range for a large percentage of that game) are proof of this. -The 3 best seekers in the Northeast all play for NYC teams (Austin Sweeney, Andrew Zagelbaum, and Abhishek Samdaria). No one knows who that last guy is, but you should. -The Warriors are an elite beater away from being a possible Elite 8 team at WC VIII. Otherwise I cant seem them going beyond the round of 32. -This tournament had hands down the best snitching of any tournament Ive ever attended. Credit especially to Harry Greenhouse for some incredible games. -I still dont believe any NE team in its current form can win WC VIII. At best, though, we can put two teams in the Final Four. -The tournament co-MVPs wereTufts beaters Nick Ryder and Andrew Miller. Close second to QCB Keeper Jayke Archibald. #TeamUSA2016
