Initial thoughts from reading chapters 1-2 of the Quran for introduction to Islam: its interesting that the Quran describes Jews and Christians as believers who simply refuse new revelation. However, it also states that if Christians and Jews are devout then they too will enter Heaven. It would seem that radical Muslims and Islamic governments (such as Iran, Pakistan, etc) missed that part? I guess I havent yet gotten to the part about exterminating the Jews.
