Inmates at Folsom Womens Facility spent a day with their children for Get On The Bus, an annual event that provides children with a free trip to visit their incarcerated parents. Thanks to a partnership between CDCR and the Center for Restorative Justice Works, about 2,000 kids will participate this year. Folsom State Prison Warden (A) Lydia Romero said keeping families connected is an important part of rehabilitation, and praised Get On The Bus for helping to bridge the gap between incarcerated parents and their children. “It continues the family unit, it strengthens the family unit, and that’s what the offender needs when they parole,” she said. “They need that support – we all do.” Read more: ow.ly/wSV0r
