Inner work: choice or obligation? I have been doing inner work - TopicsExpress

Inner work: choice or obligation? I have been doing inner work for several years rarely missing days. Inner work became my daily routine. This morning as usually I connected to Inner Teacher and asked the following question: ‘What should I address today?’ The answer was received in a form of a question: ‘What would happen if you skip a day doing forgiveness work? I knew this was my inner work this morning. I’d like to share with you information I received. Healing of the mind is typically achieved by unlearning the ego through daily forgiveness work. We create a routine which includes reading material, inner work, training opportunities etc. It feels good to follow routine. If something is missing from routine, we lose peace of mind. The following thoughts may arise: ‘I have to take this class to get healed’ or ‘I have to follow this spiritual teaching to feel peace’. Both of these ideas are based on seeking mechanism of the mind. When we believe that something is required to complete us, we feel incomplete. The object of attention becomes an identity. We no longer make a free choice, we feel obligated to act on it. Now connect to unlimited self in meditation and observe the object of attention without judgment. We recognize it as an experience and not an identity. Experience comes and goes and we are forever present. We can still have the experience but absence of it will not affect us. In that recognition we accept the object of attention as an experience which doesn’t define us. In this acceptance we choose to follow Inner Teacher with flexibility.
