Innovation, Design & Engineering (IDE) Championships is an annual event comprising of 3 different competitions. Each IDE competition aims to pit teams across Singapore against one other in a surprise competition challenge, under very limited time. This competition event is open to MOE Schools, private and international schools in Singapore, and public teams. For the first time, we are introducing IDE Arduino Robotics, a competition event centred on the popular open source microcontroller. Teams that perform well for IDE Arduino Robotics will be selected to take part in the International Round of the competition in June. IDE Challenge (Targeted at Science Clubs and Design & Technology Students) IDE Challenge is a hands-on competition with one or more engineering challenges. The challenge details will be announced one week before the actual competition day for the Singapore round. Teams may use this time to work on their solution and design. On the actual day of competition, teams will need to create the most effective design under limited time using the materials provided to them. IDE Arduino Robotics (Targeted at Robotics and Infocomm Clubs) IDE Arduino Robotics is a new competition category whereby teams will make use of the popular open-source Arduino microcontroller platform. Teams taking part in this category will learn how to program their Arduino board to process sensor inputs and direct their robot to accomplish as many mission objectives as possible. IDE LEGO® Robotics (Targeted at Robotics Clubs) IDE LEGO® Robotics mission challenge will be announced on the morning of the competition day. Students will have 4 hours to prepare for the surprise mission. This competition will serve as a training platform for teams participating in the annual National Junior Robotics Competition (NJRC) as well as to train students to think on their feet to overcome a mission playfield under limited time.
