Insider Tip #51: Keep in mind that in Europe, a 4-Star hotel may not be on the same par as a 4-Star hotel here in the U.S. Rooms can be awkward and small, and amenities scarce. And if you book your hotel on a secondary site like Expedia, you may end up getting the worst room in the house. Instead, talk to your travel agent. They can find you the perfect hotel and maybe even get you an upgrade you wouldnt get on your own. And a smart agent will often recommend opting for your river cruise lines pre- and post-cruise extensions because the hotels are carefully chosen and come highly recommended, and sightseeing an even some meals are included!
