Inspirational MS research advocates and fundraisers Katrina and Mike Hemingway have today been announced as the joint winners of the 2014 John Studdy Award - the highest accolade MS Australia can bestow. Katrina and Mike are founding members of Foundation 5 million which has raised more than $5 million for MS Research through a host of community events. They have also planned and organised high-profile MS events such as this years Coast2Coast Walk which on its own raised more than $230,000 to fund the fight towards a cure. MS Australia President David Barnes AM said of the Hemingways Katrina and Mike are two very inspirational people, and two fine examples of people who live to the betterment of others. Over the last ten years they have fought MS in their own way and gone above and beyond to help others in the same situation. Accepting the award Mike Hemingway paid tribute to the people they have worked with along the way who have helped raise vital funds for MS Research. If there is one silver lining of MS its the people you meet, because MS can get you down, and to be around people who together say MS will never get us down can make such a difference.
