With inspired direction from David Sheppard and Fred Robbins, Acme Theater brings you inside the prison walls for a look at death row in their production of Bruce Grahams Coyote On A Fence. It is well-paced and crafted with splashes of humor to break up the tension. Ken Lords set provides realistic, tight quartered prison cells. Kathy Campbells lighting is dark and shocking. Nicole Sparks sound design deeply immerses you right into prison culture and makes you feel like youre right in the middle of arguments on the cell block. The acting is top notch- Jason Myatt, Nick Bennett-Zendzian, Kimberly Maloney McClure and Andrew Boncoddo deliver sharp, nuanced, intense performances that are based in respect and care for the characters theyve created. These performances should not be missed. Itll make you think and react, and leave you sitting in silence for a moment of reflection before applauding them for bringing us into their world and taking us along for the ride. A tip of the cap to everyone involved in the production. And a must-see this season.
