Installment No. 19 -- recording artists affected by pancreatic cancer: Jack Benny was probably one of the best comedians of the 20th century. While there were others of his caliber, he had few peers when it came to possessing a mastery of timing -- and timing is just about everything in comedy. While some of his bits may seem somewhat dated now, one of his main themes is timeless: playing the self-absorbed cheapskate. In October 1974, Benny was traveling and performing when he cancelled a gig in Dallas one night because he didnt feel well. Repeated diagnostic tests were inconclusive. When he developed abdominal pain a few weeks later, another test revealed pancreatic cancer. That was in early December 1974. He died at home on December 26, 1974 at the age of 80. This classic, though dated in some ways, is otherwise timely seems to me: https://youtube/watch?v=r4Dw3vvXGUg
