Instead of doing bank bailouts, Iceland arrested the bankers behind the economic woes and let the chips fall where they may... That was just a few years ago ( less than 10) and now 2% unemployment. Contrast this with our status... We allowed the government to take our tax payer money and prop up the bankers who caused the economic problems, saying they were too big to fail... Now our unemployment rate and economy in general is getting worse and worse... Yes, we are being screwed by a banker/politician collusion. They could have used that same bailout money and given every working American $40,000... Not even saying that is right, but that would have boosted the economy more than anything they did... Instead they thought it best to give the money (that is, our tax payer money) to the ones who caused the problem in the first place. They are too big to fail, we are not. Kudos to Iceland.
