Instead of filing separate criminal charges against individual police officers for misconduct, there should be a class action suit against the Dept. of Justice for civil and human rights violations. Compile all the cases of police aggression against Black citizens to demonstrate a pattern of systemic and wanton disregard for the lives of unarmed Black citizens. Remember Brown Vs Board of Ed? It took a Supreme Court decision to weaken institutionalized discrimination in U.S. school system. Although, sometimes necessary, riots, demonstrations nor individual financial settlements are likely to end these senseless killings. Citizens need to come together, select a law firm to represent the hundreds of families who have lost a loved one and file a class action lawsuit against the United States of America. If SCOTUS does not provide relief, we can take our complaints to the United Nations. The U.S. government has never been held accountable for any of its crimes against humanity in general nor their long history of crimes against Black citizens in particular. mjs
