Instead of ignoring them, instead of arguing with them and taking a defensive position, instead of resorting to litigation and legislation to fight their stupidity, lets hold creationists to the same standards we hold each other. Anytime they make a claim, just say one word: Demonstrate. Dont let them redirect. Dont let them provoke. Tell them they can demonstrate or they can keep quiet. Its their call. Any engagement beyond that just gives them an unwarranted sense of legitimacy, and allows them the privilege of lazily making whatever baseless claims they want while were required to do actual work. Creationists will fight. They will whine. They will make excuses. They will attack our character, our intelligence, our beliefs. But we need to stand firm. There is no debate. Internet forums only stoke the creationist fires by creating a false controversy. Evolution, geology, and cosmology do not need our help defending them. The research speaks for itself. On the flipside, the lack of creation research speaks at a much higher volume. Id love to see this one word go viral. Demonstrate. Hell, lets make it a hashtag. #demonstrate Only a global flood can create fossils? And do so in mere months? #demonstrate A flood can cut a Grand Canyon in just days or weeks? #demonstrate Theres a conspiracy to shut out creationism? #demonstrate Just leave it at that. Dont humor them. Dont defend the science because thats not what any of this is about. Its about one side trying to circumvent the rules of the game then calling us cheaters for requiring fair play.
