Instead of introducing a new dog into the program with a picture....I have to use a video tonight....and tell a story. Now, there are lots of stories of crazy little things that happen to us in rescue that you never hear, because quite honestly, stuff happens in rescue and well, if we shared those stories you might think we dont know what were doing!!!! Anyway, so today we brought in another dog from the puppy mill in Bradley County. She was supposed to come on transport yesterday, but there was a glitch in transport (that glitch would also be one of those rescue stories, but since it wasnt my glitch, it isnt my story to tell!!!!)....okay, I keep digressing. Anyway, today arrived a blind/deaf female mix (we believe a failed attempt at a pocket rottie) who is a bit under a year old. I have now named her Hooray after this evenings shenanigans. So, I get home with Hooray and I take her into the gym to put her in an xpen to decompress while I get the Camp Snooty dogs fed. As soon as I turn my back, she climbs the xpen. Hooray then gets set up in a nice big crate, extra plush. I go about my early evening feeding dogs. We are outside going walk-about when I hear this very faint howl. I cannot figure out where the howl is coming from so I go inside. Inside I cant hear it as well as I did outside. I go back out. I find nothing. I go into the gym to see if it is possibly her in there howling. Crate is empty....both doors shut and locked. Howl is coming from under the house. Well, in our gym we have a trampoline in the floor....under the trampoline is a concrete pit. On the edges of the pit are duct work. INSIDE THAT DUCT WORK WAS HOORAY HOWLING!!!! Under the house I went, removing duct work and out comes Hooray....happy as a claim to smell someone. So much for quarantine because at the point she hit the yard and took off, no holds barred, in the happiest craziest free run you have ever seen. And then I yelled HOORAY!!!!!!! Laughed at myself knowing she couldnt hear me and I was putting on a crazy show and thus....she was named Hooray!!! In the video, you cant see really well what is going on, but she is actually jumping for lightning bugs!!!! I promise, she is completely blind and deaf.....and she is INCREDIBLE.....So, everyone yell HOORAY and welcome this special one to Snooty G....shes going take the world by storm, I guarantee it!!!!!
