Instead of long-winded play-by-play garbage today, you get Lee saying the Gators were out-finessed, outmuscled, outcoached and outplayed. The Crimson Tide had it not been for their turnover gifts which led to all 21 Florida points including the fumble return for a score by Keanu Neal. The defense managed to give up a Gator record 645 yards including over 420 to Blake Sims. However, the most impressive player on the field was Amari Cooper with 10 catches for 201 yard and 3 TDs. If not in the Heisman conversation, he should be. In comparison, the toothless Gators were held to 200 total yards including Driskel’s paltry 9-27 for 93 yard performance. Again, he was plagued by drops as well as his inaccuracy. Although Driskel (as my friend Joel Benes would call him – Dickhead – or was that assh@le) led the Gators in rushing, you do not want your leading rusher to be him if you have Kelvin Taylor and Matt Jones. Speaking of Taylor, when is Roper going to use him – today only 4 touches. Again you saw breakdowns in the Florida secondary as the Red Elephants scored on 2 passes of 75+ yards where the opponents were WIDE open. In the end, Saban help the dogs off as it should have been worse than the 42-21 victory margin. The pairing of the defensive-minded Saban with the offensive play calling inventiveness of Lane Kiffen appears to working to perfection as Bama appears to make another championship run. The Gators limp literally, as you saw both Driskel and Hargreaves III both do so, enter next week’s clash with lots of questions and a question of identity versus the Tennessee Volunteers. For a team that hung in its hat on defense in the Muschamp regime, the last 2 weeks they have been whipping boys to say the least.
