Instead of sleeping until noon today, I decided it would be far more interesting to spend 4 hours at emergent care being ignored while suffering though 8-9 on the pain scale abdominal pain. I think I finally hit a 10 when I started crying and wailing. The only thing they did for me was push a bag of IV fluid and send me home with a script for 10 Norco pills. My bloodwork all came back normal, and either the single hydrocodone pill Id had left that I took before deciding we needed the ER trip finally decided to work, or this pain is SUPER triggered by and tied in to dehydration, because I slid back down to a 6 once the saline got going, and I think I walked out at a 4. Of course, it had been over 3 hours by the time the NP walked back in with my test results and I was at a tolerable 6. An hour earlier, and maybe some medication couldve spared the whole ER listening to the pathetic sound of my voice. But an hour or so earlier, and I had been getting the And what do you think we can do for you here? line, dripping with judgment and accusations of opiate-seeking behavior. By the time she came back and I could breathe again, her tune had changed to sympathy because shed actually looked over my history and seen all of the tests Ive had done since January. She opted not to do another CT scan because they hadnt helped so far, and she didnt want to subject me to more radiation when it was unlikely to show anything useful. Basically, the NP said my best course of action is just to follow up with my primary doc to let her know I was there today, and to go ahead with my impending colonoscopy as scheduled, as that should be my best hope for finding an answer. My eyes were closed for most of the time, but I believe he spent the entire 4 hour visit at my side, holding my hand while I cried, and didnt even think about trying to pass the time playing games on his phone.
