Instead of teaching love, most black men and women regurgitate negatives. In barbershops, where black men can be black men, a common topic centers on the crazy, violent, untrustworthy, overpowering black woman. Once we look at the traumatic hand black women have been dealt and still shuffle, we can move beyond the stereotypical angry black woman and address the issue from the foundations of her frustration. If we dissect the brainwashing campaign, black men may recognize that, inherent in our negative descriptions of black women, we are still grappling with an age-old fear that we are less than, and cannot meet social expectations.
