Institutionalised Rape What we have on a precipice, are the institutions born, or cemented, in the Industrial revolution, of an education system designed to shoehorn individuals into boxes of life careers, broadcasters created from vast expense so that it kept out the common voice, editorialised to serve its masters views, newspapers daily losing their relevance by using a dying paper medium and again with controlled editorial voices, rather than the global and rising engagement of the internet which has an individual, disparate commentary but in this campaign had a collective ambition united in the yes campaign, banking institutions formed on high streets and now withdrawing from these dying wastelands into multinational corporations exposed as insidious corrupt greed merchants for the 1%. Parliament in ridiculous archaic party systems of privilege and historical traditions that young people cannot distinguish from their standard grade history classes, religion, dying without an afterlife, but held on by blind grasps in the name of a loving God that seems to only want to segregate. In 2014, it feels that people are waking up, that this is all old, that it services the few rather than the many and held back by cynicism and fear and that our voices could not be heard as they had no power, but we are at a tipping point. The tired disenfranchised are being rallied by the young who care not for the past but seek a future that makes sense and is a better place, Radicalism is rarely achieved peacefully. The system are organised for self preservation and changes have to go through lengthy, multiple checks, its why the fight for no was so unified and dirty they were fighting not for ideologies but for the system itself. If what you seek is important if your values are central to you, if you want a better life for yourself, your children, everyone, than a single defeat does not weaken your resolve it crystallises it and highlights how necessary it is. So education should become the developing of skills not unitised assembly lines of job matching, banking should be cooperative, supermarket cathedrals become multi owned local producers where suppliers are not held to ransom, parliamentary voice, by the elected but also incorporating people directly, privileged houses and spheres of power dismantled. I see, hear so many new voices energised with real purpose and skill that are not scared to move forward into new models, that have the audacity of hope and bravery to articulate the method as we watch the old systems/institutions rust and decay Its time for a bigger revolution than national independence.
