Instructors All Pro Powder Instructors are Internationally Certified and Licensed by the following Ski & Snowboard Instructor Associations: CSIA, JSBA, BASI, NZSIA, APSI. Trevor Dobson Founder – Level 3 CSIA, Level 2 CSCF After many a season instructing and coaching in Canada, Trevor decided to make the move to Nagano, Japan working at the Yamamoto Sachiko ski school. In the 2004/2005 season Trevor relocated to Niseko, where he has been working as a specialist powder instructor ever since! Trevor is also continuing his University studies in Calgary, Canada but returns to Niseko each Christmas and New Years. “I hope everyone can enjoy Niseko powder as much as I do. Enjoy the powder!” — Trevor Laurie Gilfoy – Ski Instructor Level 4 BASI (ISTD) I have taught skiing and coached racers for the last 9 years. In my career I have worked in Austria, Italy, France, Australia and Switzerland. For 5 years I lived and worked in the prestigious resort of Zermatt but skiing in Japan is the dream! My passion is everything skiing and I love all conditions from groomed piste, to moguls to fluffy powder off piste. My goal is to pass on to my clients the excitement and fun that Niseko has to offer. “I get real pleasure when I see my clients improve and their smiles get bigger.” – Laurie Mie “Jenny” Sakata – Snowboard Instructor JSBA Jenny has experienced the best ski areas in Japan and ended up moving to Niseko because it’s the top resort around! Jenny is crazy about snowboarding and LOVES to teach others to do it. Her dedication to the sport and love of the mountain is contagious and will make for an exciting day on the slopes. Her ski travels have taken her worldwide, but she always returns to her first love – Niseko powder snow! “Come snowboard with me!” — Jenny Andy Meadows – Ski Instructor Level 3 BASI & Telemark ISIA I have been instructing outdoor sports for the past 7 years, starting off in Switzerland and France where I picked up many useful skills and worked through my qualifications in skiing, mountain biking and climbing. I live for skiing powder, bumps and telemarking and am always trying to push the limits of everyone’s skiing, including my own. When I first came to Japan 4 years ago I was instantly hooked by the snow, food and culture. During this time I have been lucky enough to ski the best tree runs and powder lines of my life. I hope to pass on my experience of Niseko and Japan to you too! “Bring on the snow!” — Andy Shawn O’Halloran – Snowboard & Ski Instructor Level 2 APSI I have been teaching for a number of seasons in Australia at Perisher. In my travels I have been lucky enough to ski in some of the biggest resorts in the world. From Australia’s Thredbo and Perisher, to Austria’s Solden St Anton and Serfaus Fiss Ladis and New Zealand’s Remarkables and Coronet Peak. I love everything snow and enjoy both skiing and snowboarding. I specialize in teaching kids and love to teach all types of people from complete beginners to those who really want to push their riding to the next level. I can help you with skiing or boarding all over the mountain, on the piste, in the trees and through the bumps. I love to ride powder but also enjoy jumps and drops. “Let me take your riding to the next level at Pro Powder.” Shawn Jenny Cann – Ski Instructor Level 2 NZSIA Originally from London, I started my skiing career at the age of 3. At the age of 18, I took the leap to do my first ski season instructing in Soll, Austria. Ten years on and 8 full seasons under my belt, skiing is still as big a part of my life as ever. I have now found my way to Niseko Japan and wonder why I didn’t do it years ago. Off season I am a PADI scuba dive instructor working in Port Douglas, Australia. I’ve been able to seen a lot of the world, all over Europe, South East Asia, Central America, Australia, Japan…. But whether I’m under the ocean or on top of a mountain I love to teach and see the progression in my students. Could you be next? “I look forward to meeting you and remember we never stop learning!” Jenny William Webb – Ski Instructor Level 2 BASI From a very young age I have always had a huge passion for skiing. Being lucky enough to come from a family that also shares this ski passion I have had the opportunity to ski all over the world. Countries in which I have skied include France, Italy, Austria, Andorra, Norway, Canada, North America, Australia and New Zealand and now of course Japan. No where comes close to the powder I have already experienced here in Japan and I look forward to passing on the knowledge I have gained from my time here already. “Send it boyo!!!” William Steve Donald – Ski & Snowboard Instructor ISIA Level 3 BASI Skiing has been a big part of my life starting from the young age of three. Living in Scotland skiing was part of my schooling education and I became an instructor at the age of 18 and taught skiing 3 seasons at Glenshee, Scotland. I have been race training in Italy as well as 6 seasons instructing in the Vally de Aosta the North of Italy. I have also worked in Soll and Fieberbrunn in Austria where the world championships were held last season. Coming to Japan, with some of the best powder in the world has been my long time desire. To help you enjoy some of the best ski lines, on and off the piste is my goal. “Ski with me and by the end of our session I guarantee you’ll leave with a smile on your face and more enthusiasm than you thought you could ever have for skiing!” Steve Will Pleeth – Ski Instructor Level 2 BASI Skiing has been my passion from a young age and I have spent many winters skiing all over Europe and in North America, skiing training and qualifying as an instructor. Some great places I have been include Verbier, Switzerland and Whistler in Canada. I have always enjoyed teaching outdoor sports and have spent time teaching sailing and kayaking. My goal is to pass on my passion for skiing and the outdoors and one of my favorite things about teaching skiing is seeing enjoyment through progression. I enjoy all forms of skiing, especially powder and the snow here in Japan is like nothing I have experienced before. “You won’t catch me on the mountain without a smile on my face!” Will Simon Rough – Ski Instructor Level 2 BASI Having worked many ski seasons in the highlands of Scotland I moved on to experience teaching in the Alps. I have had the great opportunity to be able to teach skiing in Switzerland, Austria and Italy. I am very excited to now teach skiing in one of the best snow areas in the world. My passion is powder skiing, freestyle and freeride but I love a groomer day and look forward to teaching all levels here in Niseko. My job here is to improve my client’s performance and transfer to them my passion for skiing. “Let’s pray for even bigger snow and get that “Japow” inside you!” Simon Fumiaki Sakai – Ski Instructor JSIA Originally from Sapporo, Hokkaido Fumi started ski instructing when he was 18 years old in Hakuba, Nagano. Fumi went to the United States to travel and worked as a ski instructor at Lake Tahoe. Fumi stayed in the USA for 15 years where he continued to work as a sports therapist. Fumi finally returned to Japan and now works for Pro Powder and also operates Otaki Outdoor Adventures where Fumi does snowshoe tours in the winter and rafting and trekking tours in the summer for both Japanese and foreign customers. “Niseko’s powder snow is truly amazing.
