Insurance update: I swear if I werent there to experience all of this firsthand, I would swear Im being punked. It is Tuesday and I feel defeated. We went to the Gastroenterologist today. I check in and am immediately told there is a problem with my insurance. I call my Registered Nurse case manager and, of course, she is out of the office. So the doctors office refuses to see us until we work on the insurance. I call Humana and am told by Humana that there was nothing they could do. Was even told that there was no one else that could help me. Their customer service department refused to even put someone else on the phone. (Humana did not even bother to call me back until after 3pm.) So I sit in the doctors office with Dalton strapped to the stretcher for three hours trying to work this out. I called anyone and everyone that would listen. Finally, once the ambulance had exhausted almost all of their oxygen, we started to pack up and leave. Then they say they would see us. The only reason the doctor saw us is because one of Daltons PICU doctors called and asked for us to be seen as a favor. Poor Dalton is so done and cranky by this time. Then we have to go to the lab for an RSV and culture. (Dalton has experienced his first fever since being home, yesterday and today.) We get to the lab and we have more insurance problems. Im just over this. I have finally decided to contact a special needs attorney. I cant do this every week. Its simply exhausting. Im truly in shock that this can even happen to a child with Daltons medical issues. I cant imagine what others are going through. I truly feel defeated. My physical therapy and respiratory therapy were all supposed to resume this week and we havent seen them either. Additionally I still do not even have night nurses secured yet AND I have to go back to work in two weeks. I have two weeks to figure this out by myself. This four weeks has been such a challenge. Dont get me wrong, Im so blessed for the time I have been able to bond with Dalton, but his insurance is dominating my life. Instead of fighting to get everyone insurance, Obamacare should have been about reform about people with special needs, about VA hospital management about caring for individuals with chronic illness. I GUARANTEE OBAMA WOULD NOT HAVE TO FIGHT THIS HARD FOR HIS CHILDREN TO BE SEEN BY DOCTORS. Yes we are victim of Obamacare and it really feels like a hit and run!! Our saga continues and I will continue to fight for him but Im just emotionally beat up. :( Ok my rant is over.....still more to come. #obamacaresucks #obamasucks #angrymama #prayersfordalton #daltonstrong #notdonefighting
